316 stainless steel is an austenitic stainless steel material with excellent corrosion resistance. It is widely used in industries with high requirements such as marine engineering, chemical equipment, food processing, and pharmaceutical machinery. Its most notable feature is that it contains approximately 2%–3% of molybdenum, which makes it significantly superior to common stainless steel materials like 304 in terms of resistance to chloride corrosion. From the composition perspective, 316 stainless steel typically contains 16%–18% chromium, 10%–14% nickel, and molybdenum. This chemical combination endows it with excellent resistance to pitting corrosion and corrosion resistance. Additionally, 316 stainless steel exhibits good strength, toughness, weldability, and high-temperature resistance.
