The petroleum refining and chemical industry involves various process units such as atmospheric and vacuum distillation, catalytic cracking, hydrocracking, and delayed coking. The equipment and pipelines in this industry are constantly exposed to corrosive environments with high temperatures, high pressures, and sulfur and acid-containing media. 347 stainless steel pipes, due to their excellent high-temperature strength and intergranular corrosion resistance, play a significant role in the key sections of the refining and chemical plants.

Hydrogenation units are a typical application scenario for 347 stainless steel tubes. The operating temperatures of hydrogenation cracking and hydrogenation refining units usually range from 400°C to 480°C, with pressures up to 10MPa to 20MPa, and the medium contains corrosive components such as hydrogen, hydrogen sulfide, and ammonia. 347 stainless steel tubes are used to manufacture the gas distribution tubes, thermocouple sleeves, and high-temperature and high-pressure pipelines inside the reactors. Their excellent resistance to hydrogen embrittlement and high-temperature hydrogen sulfide corrosion ensure the long-term stable operation of the units under harsh conditions. A 200 million ton/year hydrogenation cracking unit at a refinery used 347 stainless steel tubes as the components inside the reactor and operated continuously for 5 years without any corrosion failure.

In the catalytic cracking unit, 347 stainless steel pipes are used for the flue gas pipelines of the regenerator and the material legs of the cyclone separator. The outlet flue gas temperature of the regenerator can reach 650℃ to 720℃, and it contains catalyst dust and sulfur oxides. The 347 stainless steel pipes exhibit excellent oxidation resistance and high-temperature corrosion resistance in the high-temperature flue gas environment. The niobium stabilization structure effectively prevents intergranular corrosion tendencies during long-term high-temperature service.

In the delayed coking unit, 347 stainless steel pipes are used for the oil and gas volatilization line at the top of the coke tower and the high-temperature pipelines. The operating temperature in this area is approximately 450℃ to 500℃, and the medium contains hydrogen sulfide and hydrocarbons. The high-temperature strength and anti-carburization performance of the 347 stainless steel pipes ensure the safe operation of the pipelines and prevent failure accidents caused by high-temperature creep or carbonization embrittlement.

In addition, 347 stainless steel tubes are also widely used in key parts of refining and chemical plants, such as the heating furnace tubes, heat exchanger tube bundles, and high-temperature instrument pipelines.
