Thermal Resistance Temperature, Anti-Carbon Penetration Property and Welding Process Guidelines
When selecting 309 stainless steel sheet, three key technical indicators need to be given priority consideration to ensure it meets the specific high-temperature working conditions requirements.
Heat resistance temperature: 309 stainless steel can operate continuously at 980℃, and the intermittent usage temperature can reach up to 1150℃, which is much higher than that of ordinary stainless steels like 304. When purchasing, it is necessary to clearly specify the upper limit of the long-term operating temperature of the equipment.
Anti-carburization property: In carbon-containing atmospheres (such as carburizing furnaces, combustion exhaust gases), its high chromium content can effectively prevent the diffusion and penetration of carbon into the steel, avoiding material brittleness, expansion and strength reduction. This is its core advantage in heat treatment equipment.
Welding process: It is recommended to use the corresponding ER309 welding material and a lower heat input process. Post-welding, no heat treatment is usually required, but the interlayer temperature still needs to be controlled to avoid hot cracks.
