Marine fasteners need to meet the requirements of high preload bearing capacity and long-term weather resistance and corrosion resistance. The aged high strength of K500 precisely meets these demands. The K500 rods with a diameter of approximately 1 inch (25.4mm) are the most commonly used specifications in fastener manufacturing, and are used for bolt manufacturing in marine atmospheres, tidal waters, and pump valve components. K500 is resistant to chloride corrosion in marine atmospheres and tidal waters, and its non-magnetic characteristic (down to -135°C) makes it suitable for the fastening of marine instruments and equipment that are sensitive to magnetism. Compared with Monel 400 fasteners, K500 can withstand higher bolt preload without plastic deformation, significantly improving the connection reliability. Note: In stagnant seawater or gap conditions, K500 bolts may still suffer from pitting corrosion. Therefore, the fastener design should avoid water accumulation dead corners, and in necessary cases, sealing or coating protection should be combined.
